The Best Breweries on Maryland’s Eastern Shore

Whether you’re an avid beer enthusiast who delights in trying regional breweries, like those here on the Eastern Shore, or just a casual beer drinker who enjoys experiencing an authentic slice of local life, these establishments offer a fantastic way to cool off and unwind on a warm summer afternoon.

The best part about visiting different Eastern Shore breweries is that they each offer a distinctive atmosphere and unique brews. They all have one thing in common, though; showcasing the region’s dedication to quality and innovation. You’ll find just about everything at these local breweries, too, including traditional styles and inventive new concoctions. Below, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best Maryland breweries on the Eastern Shore.

  1. One of the best Maryland breweries on the Eastern Shore is Eastern Shore Brewing in St. Michael. It’s actually the oldest brewery on the Eastern Shore and is known for its relaxed setting and diverse range of beer. Popular brews here include St. Michaels Ale and Situation Critical IPA.
  2. A little farther south of St. Michaels is RaR Brewing—it’s a great place to stop after visiting the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge! This brewery is well known for its inventive beers, which include everything from hazy IPAs to rich stouts.
  3. One of the closest Eastern Shore breweries to us is the Bull & Goat Brewery. Their taproom offers a fantastic, rotating selection of beer. As an added bonus, this is a two-for-one stop, as they share a facility with Old Courthouse Distilling.
  4. Stop in and grab a pint at Ten Eyck Brewing Company, a spot known for its community-focused approach and innovative offerings. The welcoming taproom and regular events make it a lively spot for beer lovers.
  5. Cult Classic Brewing is another worthwhile stop on the Eastern Shore. The beer at this brewery is unique and delicious, and it’s a vibrant destination with frequent live music performances, food, and more.

Don’t Forget these Eastern Shore Wineries!

Though there are nearby wineries that get way more press, such as those in northern Virginia just outside of Washington D.C., don’t underestimate Maryland wineries – particularly those on the Chesapeake Wine Trail in Maryland. Growing wine grapes has long been an agricultural practice here, dating back to the mid-1600s. Today, there are over 80 wineries in Maryland, including several fantastic Eastern Shore wineries.

The Chesapeake Wine Trail includes 12 sensational Maryland wineries. The wines made here are sophisticated, drinkable, and delicious, but they pair exceptionally well with our local seafood. You can easily spend a day wine tasting at a couple of local Eastern Shore wineries or stop in for a casual glass of wine as you wind down from your adventure. No matter how you approach them, we’re positive these Eastern Shore wineries will delight you! Below are the closest five wineries on the Eastern Shore that we love recommending to our guests.

  1. Crow Vineyard & Winery is our favorite Eastern Shore winery. While the wines here are delicious, we absolutely love that it’s also still a working farm. You can walk the farm trails and learn more about the winemaking process while you’re there.
  2. Triple Creek Winery, another farm-turned-winery on the Eastern Shore, is a wonderful family-run operation just south of our Inn.
  3. Head to Kent Island and enjoy a tasting at Cascia Vineyards & Winery, another of our favorite Eastern Shore wineries. The winery sits on the waterfront and overlooks the Chesapeake Bay.
  4. Casa Carmen Wines, in nearby Chestertown, produces fabulous wines and vermouth.
  5. At St. Michaels Winery, you’ll find 18 varieties of wine to explore. It’s one of the most diverse libraries on the Eastern Shore.
